What’s up nonbelievers, doubters, and skeptics?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a content creator, it’s that you can’t make everyone happy.
Something that I post is going to upset a follower or, more likely, someone who just stumbles across my page or is served some hot, fresh Jesus Unfollower content by the algorithm.
One thing that I find very interesting, though, is that there are people out there who expect me to talk about every religion or, at least, the ones with which they have problems.
They call me a coward for not talking about Islam.
Do I have problems with Islam? Of course… but I choose to talk about Christianity because I spent the majority of my life in that religion.
I lived for Jesus Christ. Even though Christians love to throw 1 John 2:19 at me now, I really loved Jesus.
I prayed all the time. My coworkers used to make fun of me for praying at work.
I worshipped God all the time…and not just when I was at church.
I had a friend of mine put a passcode on my Dish Network so that I wouldn’t be able to watch anything rated R.
A guy asked me for a ride home at a gas station, and I obliged…but then he had to listen to me preach to him the whole drive home. I wonder if he still thinks about that.
I let God guide every decision I made…or so I thought.
Also, The United States is made up of mostly Christians (I think it’s like 60-70% of the population).
My family are Christians. My friends are Christians. My coworkers are Christians.
I see daily devotionals on Facebook.
I see posts about how our nation needs to turn back to god (guess which god they’re talking about).
I see stuff like this:
How is it difficult to understand why I post about Christianity—specifically evangelical Christianity?
Really, bro? How many holy days does god get?
One thing I sometimes respond with when people say “Why don’t you talk about Islam???” is “Do you ask the NFL why they don’t post about basketball?”
Or, more recently, I’ve started saying “Why don’t you post about Islam, if you’re so passionate about it?”
See, the thing is, it’s typically just Christians who are trying to deflect.
Rather than take any criticism of their religion, they go into whataboutism.
Just because I’m criticizing Christianity, that doesn’t mean that I have no problems with any other religions.
The funny thing is: I actually have posted about Islam in the past a few times. I think I’ve posted 2 or 3 TikToks, and they were all removed for hate speech within a few hours.
But, like I said… you can’t please everyone.
And remember: You don’t need a god to be good!
Kevin
