What’s up, nonbelievers, doubters, and skeptics?
I’ve been doing this for pretty close to 4 years now, and I’ve gotten many, many DMs.
Some of them good. Some..awful.
I’ve gotten everything from “You’re a p****y because you only attack Christianity” to “You’re a fat Reddit neckbeard atheist!”
And that’s fine.
My skin is pretty thick after doing this for so long.
And then, sometimes, I get message that are so bad that they’re hilarious yet scary.
It’s fun for me to share some of these, but it’s also dangerous that so many people out there have thoughts like these in their heads.
Brace yourself. Also, WARNING: there are some racial and social slurs in here.
This is the first message I got from the user who goes by “oink”:
He says “it’s always the fat white dudes…”
Well, I say it’s always the people whose profile pic isn’t them, name isn’t theirs, and they have no content are the ones who send these kinds of messages.
Coming in strong with the attacks on appearance right away. That’s a good indicator of how the conversation is going to go.
He went on to say that I need to get a real job. He even sent me a picture of a job application with the words “BOO N****! Scared you, didn’t it?”
So, for those keeping score at home, he’s now called me fat and jobless.
He’s very comfortable using the R word. Too comfortable.
We all were in the 90s. This is 2023, bro.
I understand people take my posts personally, but they really shouldn’t.
My posts are about Christianity and not-so-much an attack on Christians, themselves.
Yes, I like to poke fun here and there, but, like I’ve said before, it’s just as much poking fun at my old life as it is current believers.
There are a group of people on social media (oink included) who take every post as an attack on them. Few of this group actually take the time to try to understand what I’m saying.
“You created a whole account to hate on god and Christians!” False. I created this account to vent my frustrations about how Christianity negatively impacts my life and those around me.
I shared the above post to my story, and Oink responded:
You’re telling on yourself, Oink.
Scoffing at religious trauma. Assuming it just means that people had to go to church.
After calling me fat and an R slur on more time, I told him to seek help, and I haven’t heard from him since.
I try not to engage with a lot of the hate comments, especially if the author is a minor. I’m not sure if oink is, but I actually hope so because that means he has time to mature and grow.
I remember how I was in my teens. I thought I knew everything. “What do these 40 year olds with plenty of life experience know about anything??”
So, generally, if I know it’s someone young, I will just block them and move on… but this was pretty extreme.
We don’t have to dwell on only the bad, though.
The reason I continue to do this is because of the positive messages that I get.
Here are a few of those:
It’s true. I do get a lot of hate.
But it’s so worth it to know that my accounts, podcast, whatever are helping some people out there.
I don’t post these to brag; I post them to show that my content isn’t just about hating on religion or hating Christians.
It’s hard for people like Oink to understand because maybe they haven’t had a lot of negative interaction with religion in their lives.
Anyway… I just had to share that wild string of messages.
Let logic & reason guide the way!
Kevin

It always astounds me when xtians do this. Is this supposed to make non-believers "see the error of their ways"? Are we supposed to read this absolutely vile text and think "you know, he's right, THIS is how we're supposed to act in order to be good people"? If this is the kind of person that would go to "heaven", I have no interest in joining them.
