What’s up nonbelievers, doubters, and skeptics?
Another week has gone by already! What is time anymore?
I sound like such a boomer… “The older you get, the faster it goes by.”
Shit’s true, though.
At the time of writing this, I just went and voted!
I think it’s more important than ever that we get out and vote for what we believe in. This seems to have been said a lot in recent elections, but it’s a pivotal election year. It truly is.
“Just Let People Believe”
As someone who creates content for atheists, ex-Christians, and those deconstructing their faith, I’m often met with the comment from believers “just let people believe, bro,” as if I’m stopping them.
I know what they mean: “let them believe without criticism.”
Should we do that, though? Don’t beliefs deserved to be criticized?
There’s a group of people that tell the rest of us that we’re living wrong.
They tell us there’s one way to heaven. Their way. Or else it’s hell.
They’re very vocal.
As you may know, I’m now in Knoxville, TN, and can walk to the University of Tennessee, which we did on Saturday before the Tennessee/Florida game.
As we were walking around the stadium, guess what we ran into?
A guy with a megaphone, preaching. Of course.
He was telling his testimony, and he had a couple of his goons handing out pamphlets.
This is exactly why I can’t just “let people believe.” They don’t let us NOT believe.
Maybe I’ll set up an atheist stand and handing out secular tracts.

Comments From Christians
Christians are all about showing that love of Jesus…right?
Well, let’s see about that…
Starting off hot! Hey, she goes to another school, okay???
Yes, your god is real. All gods are real.
Got em.
Hey, ok! You’re the reason that it’s important that we all vote!
It’s kinda sad, though. I think a lot of these people never zoom out to see the bigger picture. We all share this planet together. They have a very narrow view of the world.
Not a single thing, you say? Interesting.
This one always kills me. “We follow Jesus, not the bible.”
If not for the Bible, you wouldn’t follow Jesus. You think you would magically just follow the teachings of a dude from 2,000 years ago?
I’ve never claimed to be a victim nor acted like one. Also, I have no idea what the hell he’s even trying to say. Where does one sentence end and the other begin?
You do realize my criticisms of god are because of religion, right? My criticisms of god are hypothetical because I obviously don’t think he exists.
This is a strange comment, and I wish I could say that it’s rare. Unfortunately, I get comments like this a lot, and I truly don’t understand them.
People with different beliefs aren’t automatically dumb because of those beliefs, but when they make comments like this, they expose themselves.
Kinda pathetic that my content makes them so angry that they’d say something like this about my sweet mother.
By the way, I put this on my Instagram story and tagged his mom to see if she’d approve.
There’s that love of Jesus!
Demonic Delusion is a great metal band name, though.
Got it, Troy. Wait, which of us actually thinks Satan is real?
Wow, sick burn, Diego.
Diego is so manly. I mean, just look at him!! Oh, wait.
The toughest of trolls hide behind default avatars.
Another troll. Why do I feed them?
Bro is still using homosexual as an insult attempt in 2024. I guess it makes sense with the MAD profile pic. Hey, man. Join us in this century!
Tell me you need therapy without telling me you need therapy.
There’s an epidemic of Christian tough alpha bros who drive big trucks, have no empathy, and discount the experience of others.
I always feel sorry for any women in these dudes’ lives.
Manny spitting straight fire! It makes zero sense at all, but pop off, Manny!
Anderson Cooper is not God. Got it.
I think YOU need some divine spelling lessons, Dave.
My guess is that, like every other situation, he’s just not gonna do anything.
If they were taught that LOTR were true, they would scoff at the story of Jesus.
First time this dude ever interacted with me hahaha

Questions from Followers
Sometimes, I throw a question box up on Instagram to see what my followers want to ask, and I got some pretty good questions. Like this one:
Are all religions inherently bad?
I’m an atheist (obvs), so I don’t think that any gods exist, but that doesn’t mean that I think all religion is bad.
Let me be clear about what I’m opposed to: weaponized religion.
Simply believing in a god isn’t inherently bad. Some people need gods.
When people who “have” god start telling others that they need him, too, that’s where the problems come in.
I think the lines can get a bit blurred when it comes to teaching your children. A lot of the messaging of Christianity is awful (you deserve hell, being yourself isn’t good enough), but I don’t think that Christian parents are trying to do harm to their kids; they’re doing what they think is best, but, from the outside looking in, I don’t think it is for the best.
It often leads to religious trauma and therapy.
Jess asks this question:
How do I tell my parents I'm not a Christian anymore?
The short answer is: I don’t think you have to…especially if you’re still living under their roof.
For some people, the answer to that question is that they never tell their parents.
There’s fear of heartbreak, unwanted discussions, gossip, judgment.
It can be worth it to just not say anything sometimes.
I waited about 10 years to tell my parents that I didn’t believe. I was pretty sure they already knew, but saying it out loud was another story.
And the look on my mom’s face is something I still think about sometimes.
Luckily for me, they don’t treat me any differently or love me any less. That can’t be said for everyone who has told their parents about their lack of belief.
Here’s your quote of the week to close!
Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. ~Blaise Pascal
